Postal History 1883 (11th September), printed form headed ‘Beaufort West’, folded and mailed locally as an unsealed wrapper to ‘J.M.C. Horn / Skiet Kop / via Kaffirs fontein’. Endorsed at top ‘Book Post’ and bearing two examples of the ½d grey-black (SG 40a) cancelled with an unclear BONC (probably ‘202’) with a BEAUFORT WEST (SP 11) single circle datestamp alongside. The text in Dutch from ‘C. Pritchard’ is a request for the reimbursement of £3.0.6 ‘wegbelasting’ (road tax ?) |
