| Postal History 1878 (15th February), envelope addressed to England endorsed “Per Nubian”. Bearing a single 6d violet (SG 25b) tied by a ‘2’ BONC and a proving PORT ELIZABETH (FE 15) single circle datestamp alongside. Also tied by a Cape Town (FE 18) transit. Backstamped with a Stockport (15 Mar) arrival datestamp. A few minor edge faults, otherwise a fine example of the 6d Packet Letter Rate to England in effect from 1st July 1876. |
