POSTAL HISTORY
SA1424
1920 (February), cover addressed to New Zealand, crossed for registration though apparently mailed without a stamp. Endorsed “Posted out / of course / (initials)” in red ink and with Kimberley (23 Feb) datestamp and registration cachet struck in blue. The postage and presumably fine were receipted with a pair of King’s Heads 6d (SG 11a) affixed at lower left and tied by Kimberley registration datestamps (23 Feb) with further strikes on the reverse. Scarce example of ‘posted out of course’ to an unusual destination.
