1895 (27th July), envelope sent registered to England, the flap with printed ‘The Transvalia / Land Exploration and Mining Co. / Limited / Johannesburg / S.A.R.’. Bearing an example of the 1895 Fiscal 6d bright rose overprinted ‘POSTZEGEL’ in green (SG 215) in combination with six examples (two vertical strips of three) of the Vurtheim 2½d surcharged ‘1d.’ in green (four with square stops and two with round, SG 214, 214d) . All stamps tied by GEREGISTREERD / 27 JUL 95 / JOHANNESBURG Z.A.R. boxed registration cachets. Cape Town (31 July) transit on the reverse and London (18 and 19 Aug) arrival datestamps struck on the front in red. Rare, very early usage of the 6d, the earliest recorded date being 24th July.
 
Note: registration at this time was 4d and the letter rate to the UK was 2½d per half ounce suggesting an overpayment of 1d for a double weight envelope.
