AM1003
KUT / Postal History 1958 (August), much travelled air-letter with ‘CITY COUNCIL OF NAIROBI’ printed at top. Addressed to London and appears to be franked with a light machine roller cancellation struck in red. Several mostly indecipherable cachets, also struck in red with one legible ‘INSUFFICIENTLY PREPAID / FOR TRANSMISSION BY AIR’. The envelope was presumably forwarded via surface. In London it appears to have been readdressed back to Kenya with a 6d stamp added, and on arrival received a NAIROBI (23 Sep) datestamp. The envelope appears to have again been readdressed back to England (Worthing 17 Oct / Civil Defence / Join Now’) slogan backstamp and again to the Isle of Wight. Flap tears from opening. Bewildering.
