Postal History (South African Occupation) 1916 (4th February), envelope with sender’s details printed at top, addressed to Switzerland. Bearing three King’s Head 1d rose-red (SG 4) each tied by an OTAVI / S.W. AFRICA (4 Feb) double circle datestamp. The letter was censored and the envelope resealed with a large red on white bilingual ‘Opened by Censor / Geopend door Censor / 99’ label. Also showing a small circular ‘PASSED CENSOR / C.15.’ cachet struck in blue on the front and a large oval ‘CHIEF CENSOR / 16 FEB 1916 / CAPETOWN’ cachet also struck in blue on the reverse. Geneva (23 Mar) arrival backstamp.
 
Note: the word ‘CHIEF’ in the oval cachet appears to have been excised within the following six weeks.
