Postal History (South African Occupation) 1916 (24th November), envelope addressed and sent registered to Switzerland. Bearing King’s Heads ½d green, 1d rose-red and 2d dull purple (two vertical pairs) (SG 3, 4, 6) tied by SWAKOPMUND / S. W. AFRICA (24.11) modified German datestamps. The letter was censored and shows a circular ‘PASSED CENSOR / C.14’ circular cachet struck in purple. The envelope was resealed with two large red on white bilingual ‘Opened by Censor. / Geopend door Censor. / 100’ labels and apparently a second time with another two labels with number ‘99’. Smudged Berne arrival backstamp.
