| ‘Half Penny’ surcharge. Vertical pair, apparently from the right of the sheet as the lower stamp showing no adjacent surcharge at right (as a result of the surcharge being somewhat shifted to the left). In addition, across one of the three settings of 20 and showing the upper stamp with the surcharge correctly placed, but the lower shifted left. However, most dramatically showing both stamps with a considerable and striking re-entry of much of the design at right, the right vertical framelines distinctly doubled and with much of the design to the left of that. Some toning, fine unmounted. DRAMATIC AND HIGHLY UNUSUAL. SG 280 and vars. |
