Postal History 1874 (13th June), envelope addressed to England bearing a single 4d deep blue (SG 24c) tied by a ‘4’ BONC with KING WILLIAMS TOWN (13 Jun) unframed circular datestamp alongside. Endorsed ‘Per Intermediate Steamer’ at top. Cape Town (18 Jun) transit and London (16 Dec) arrival in red, both struck on the front. The adhesive additionally tied by a large ‘2d’ accountancy mark struck in red. Flap missing though all postal markings are struck on the front. A fine example of a ship letter carried by the Donald Currie line at the 4d per half ounce rate.
