Postal History 1873 (29th April), envelope addressed to England bearing a single 4d blue (SG 24a, with pre-affixing fault) tied by a ‘1’ BONC with light proving CAPE TOWN (29 Apr) single circle datestamp alongside. Endorsed ‘By Private Ship. “Gothland.” 29-4-73’ at top. The adhesive additionally tied by London (3 June) arrival struck in red. Showing a large ‘2d’ accountancy mark struck in red. With Gosport (3 June) arrival backstamp. A fine example of a ship letter carried by the Donald Currie line at the 4d per half ounce rate.
