| Postal History 1889 (13th August), envelope addressed to Worcester, within the Cape. Bearing a pair of 1d rose-red (SG 49) tied by a neat CAPE TOWN (13 Aug) squared octagon datestamp. The reverse with Worcester (14 Aug) arrival backstamp. The flap with embossed oval for ‘H.L. White / Share Broker / Cape Town’. A few edge faults including a small unobtrusive edge tear at right, otherwise a clean and attractive example of the 2d per half ounce rate. |
