| Revenue 1864 De La Rue Die Proofs of QV revenue duties. Comprising 32 different proofs representing every duty from the ½d to the £9 all printed in black on thick glazed card and cut down to approximately 32x38mm. Showing a range of designs, 15 with wording ‘THE STAMP ACT 1864’ and 17 with ‘GOVERNMENT OF CAPE OF GOOD HOPE’. Also showing some with black wording on white back-grounds and vice-versa, value tablets straight or curved and various frame designs. The design changes presumably representing duties issued at different dates. A few small faults including the £1.5s with surface scratch and a few with light peripheral staining. An extremely rare and most attractive array. |
