POSTAL HISTORY 1888 (15th April), envelope addressed to England. Bearing a strip of three 2d bright mauve (SG 50) cancelled with ‘3’ in 16-bar oval obliterators struck in red with originating HARRISMITH (AP 19) single circle datestamp on the reverse, also in red. Bloemfontein (AP 23), Cape Town (MY 2) and London (MY 22) transit / arrival backstamps. Some edge faults at top not affecting the adhesives. An attractive colour contrast. |
