| REVENUE 1938 (4th July), printed official document (183x329mm), headed ‘DEPARTMENT OF MINES / APPLICATION FOR TESTS IN THE MECHANICAL LABORATORY’ for the testing of ‘One length of 1 1/8” dia steel Wire Rope’ used in the ‘New State Areas Ltd’ mine in Springs. The £2.7s.6d fee was receipted with KGV small format 5/- and £1 (pair, all dated 1937) and KGVI 2/6 (1938) revenue stamps. All are tied by Inland Revenue (4 JUL 38) double circle datestamps with an additional Government Mechanical Laboratory oval datestamp alongside. The reverse with a long printed list of tests conducted and results in manuscript. The document folded for display. A scarce survivor. |
