Postal History 1893 (14th July), advertising envelope addressed to Worcester, Cape, with ‘MOSSOP & GARLAND’ (Tanners, Curriers and Leather Merchants) printed in orange-red at top. Bearing a single provisional surcharge ‘ONE PENNY’ on 2d pale bistre (SG 57) tied by a neat G.P.O. CAPE TOWN (JY 14) squared circle datestamp. With Worcester (JY 15) arrival backstamp. Also showing large dated oval cachet of Mossop & Garland struck in blue. The adhesive with perforation faults at right, otherwise a very fine and attractive example of the provisional paying the 1d per half ounce internal rate.
