NORTHERN RHODESIA & ZAMBIA
1938 GEORGE VI DEFINITIVES, SG 25-45  -  POSTAL HISTORY
AR539
1949, 18th January, envelope addressed to the USA, bearing two Royal Silver Wedding 1½d orange (SG 48) cancelled with SENANGO / N. RHODESIA (18 JAN 49) double circle datestamps (all later datestamps had the spelling SENANGA). With MONGU-LEALUI / NTH RHODESIA (21 Jan) transit backstamp. The sender’s address at upper left appears to read ‘? Burke / Maun S.D.A. Mission / Maun via Francistown / Bechuanaland, Africa’. ‘S.D.A.’ is presumably an abbreviation for ‘Seventh Day Adventist’. Interesting.
