| 1961 (30th September), official printed ‘On Her Majesty’s Service’ envelope sent registered to South Africa. Bearing QEII 2½c on 2d red-brown and 5c on 6d purple (SG 159a, 162a) tied by a LOBATSI / BECH. PROT. double circle datestamp with a further strike on the reverse. With Lobatsi registration and large oval Dept of Posts and Telegraphs cachets, both struck in purple. Backstamped with Mafeking (6 Oct) transit and Uitenhage (9 Oct) arrival datestamps. A few edge faults, otherwise fine. |
