| 1902 (16th August), envelope addressed to England endorsed ‘Circular’ at upper left. Bearing a single QV ½d dull green (SG 97a) tied by a PIETERMARITZBURG (16 Aug) double circle datestamp. With very fine commercial oval cachet ‘J. WARWICK TAINTON / Patent and Trade Mark Solicitor for South Africa. / HEAD OFFICE, MARITZBURG, NATAL’ struck in violet alongside. London (6 Sep) arrival backstamp. Vertical fold and small tear at lower right, otherwise very fine and attractive. Although the flap has subsequently become stuck down, this would have been sent at the very scarce unsealed open letter rate. |
