1915 (28th September), WWI period censored official envelope with printed ‘On His Majesty’s Service’ crossed through. Addressed to the USA, bearing a single Cape of Good Hope KEVII 2½d ultramarine (SG 73) with interpanneau margin at right, tied by a RUSTENBURG (28 Sep) double circle datestamp. With small ‘PASSED CENSOR / C.3.’ struck in blue. Although used after the interprovincial period, the 2½d is scarce used alone on non-philatelic mail. |
