POSTAL HISTORY 1908 (1st August), picture postcard (colour tinted sepia photograph of a lady) addressed to ‘Schuttes Draai Rail / Dist Ficksburg’. Bearing a single KEVII ½d yellow-green (SG 148) tied by a PHILIPPOLIS / O.R.C. (1 Aug) double circle datestamp. With a Bethlehem (4 Aug) transit and a fine S.O. GUMTREE / ORC (5 Aug) single circle skeleton / relief type datestamp. Very rare.
Note: this S.O. Gumtree datestamp is believed to be the item of record as it shares the same date as that recorded by Alex Visser in the electronic appendix to the Putzel / Visser listing.
