Postal History 1896 (4th April), registered envelope addressed to Cape Town. Bearing six examples of the ‘Hope Standing’ 1d carmine (SG 59a) all tied by REGISTERED / PORT ELIZABETH (4 Apr) oval datestamps. Cape Town (6 Apr) arrival backstamp. Flap damaged, otherwise a fine example of the internal Cape Colony rate of double 1d per half ounce plus the 4d registration fee.
