| Postal History 1897 (9th December), QV 4d registered postal stationery envelope addressed to Transvaal, with two pairs of the Table Mountain 1d carmine (SG 69) tied by ‘304’ Barred Oval Numeral Cancellers with a proving FLAGSTAFF / C.G.H. (9 Dec) single circle datestamp struck below. The imprinted stamp is cancelled with a Mount Ayliff (10 Dec) single circle datestamp and with a Johannesburg (16 Dec) arrival backstamp. A fine proving item for Flagstaff. |
