POSTAL HISTORY 1904 (8th November), large ‘K’ size KEVII postal stationery envelope addressed to Holland. Bearing nine examples of the Cape Hope standing 2½d ultramarine overprinted ‘ORANGE / RIVER / COLONY’ (SG 135), all tied by REGISTERED-BLOEMFONTEIN-O.R.C-1 (8 Nov) double circle datestamps. London (27 Nov) transit struck on the front and Amsterdam arrival datestamp (28 Nov) on the reverse. The addressee, ‘N. Yaar & Co.’ was the publishing name for ‘The History of the Postcards, Envelopes and wrappers of the Orange Free State and Orange River Colony’ (1923) by Leon de Raay. A few light stains, otherwise very fine and a very scarce envelope used.
