| Postal History / Railway 1898 (13th September), QV 1d pink postal stationery envelope sent registered to Transvaal with registration details applied in manuscript at upper left. The imprinted stamp cancelled with a very fine DE AAR / C.G.H (13 Sep) single circle datestamp. The registration fee was paid by affixing a block of four 'Hope Standing' 1d carmine (SG 59a) on the reverse which were tied by further strikes of the De Aar datestamp. The reverse also showing N.E. T.P.O. / DOWN (14 Sep) single circle and R.P.K. TERUG / Z.A.R. (T.P.O. UP) double circle transit datestamps. The adhesives crossed by registration lines, otherwise fine. |
