FIRST REPUBLIC  -  1878 Queen Victoria 'Bourne Head' Issue

An IMPERFORATE PLATE PROOF BLOCK OF 30 (5x6) of the 1d postage duty printed in black on thick white card, comprising the left half of a sheet with margins on three sides. An impressive and unique multiple, the right half of the sole sheet is believed to have been cut up in the 1960s. Ex Bradbury Wilkinson & Co. Note: this multiple assisted Robson Lowe while preparing his plating monograph ‘Transvaal 1878-1880’ published in 1973.
