GRIQUALAND WEST / Revenue 1878 Bradbury Wilkinson Queen Victoria ‘Bourne Head’ issue. Complete set of ten duties, 1d to £5. A few with clipped perforations, presumably from scissor separation, otherwise very fine fresh mint with hinge remainders. A very scarce and most attractive set. Ex the collection of David Underwood.
Note: although Barefoot lists a 1s green and a 1s6d duty, neither are believed to exist.
A recent Stanley Gibbons auction (May 2023) offered a set of this issue and stated “this the first mint set of this iconic and popular issue we have ever had the pleasure of offering.”
