Postal Stationery H&G 8b (S) / BBS RE28S(1), c1906 KEVII 2d+1d chestnut registered postal stationery envelope surcharged ‘DUTY 4d’ (size G). Handstamped ‘SPECIMEN’ (Type GB16) and additionally handstamped ‘ULTRAMAR’ vertically in blue. Unobtrusive filing spike hole at centre top, otherwise very fine unused.
Note: the ‘ULTRAMAR’ handstamp was applied in Lisbon by the Portuguese authorities to specimen stamps and postal stationery received from the UPU prior to distribution to the Portuguese colonies.
