Postal Stationery H&G 5 / BBS PC17b, 1913 Great Britain KGV ½d deep dull green on buff postal stationery card, overprinted in bold, sans-serif capital letters. The imprinted stamp with ‘COLONIAS’ handstamp diagonally in red. Small tear at top, otherwise very fine unused. One of scarcest of the Protectorate cards.
Note: the Portuguese authorities received U.P.U. specimens on behalf of their overseas territories. These were handstamped ‘ULTRAMAR’ or, from 1911 ‘COLONIAS’. Cards bearing the latter handstamp are believed to emanate from the Goa or Angolan archives.
