| 1904 KEVII issue. Madagascar UPU Archive Receiving Authority Specimens. KEVII 1d scarlet, three examples, each overprinted ‘SPECIMEN’ in an arc (Samuel type GB17), subsequently affixed to a ledger page (276x363mm) ex the Madagascar Archives. The stamps are tied by two large circular cachets ‘POSTES ET TÉLÉGRAPHES / COLLECTION / DE / BERNE / MADAGASCAR struck in red. Dated ‘24 Août 1904’ alongside (almost eight months prior to issue). With signature and handstamp of ‘LE DIRECTEUR / de Postes et Télégraphes’ at lower right. Very fine and attractive. A unique group sent from the UPU in Berne to the Madagascar Post Office. SG 68s |
