| 1893 (March), QV 1d carmine postal stationery wrapper addressed to England. The imprinted stamp is cancelled with a G.P.O. / NATAL double circle datestamp (date unclear). Apparently underpaid, the wrapper received a large ‘1d’ circular tax marking (apparently late use of Hart, Kantey & Leon Type S.4.1.1). London (28 Mar) arrival backstamp. The reverse with sender’s cachet ‘ARTHUR PEEL, / SADDLER / PIETERMARITZBURG / NATAL’. A bit grubby, otherwise fine. |
