1885 Queen Victoria ‘Bourne Head’ design 6d black-brown surcharged ‘TWEE PENCE / Z.A.R.’ in red. Upper left corner example, perforated between stamp and margin at top and imperforate to margin at left. Unobtrusive 4mm tear at foot, otherwise fine used with PRETORIA / Z.A.R. (25 MY / 86) single circle datestamp showing ‘8’ of year inverted. SG 191 Note: in ‘The Transvaal’ (page 577) Yardley states the Bourne Head issue was “rarely perforated outside the marginal stamps”.
