| 1893 (30th July), envelope addressed to Scotland. Bearing two QV ‘Jubilee’ 2d grey-green and carmine (SG 34) tied by a DEVONDALE / BECHUANALAND (30 Jul) single circle datestamp. With a Glasgow (22 Aug) transit datestamp additionally tying the adhesives. Backstamped with a Vryburg (31 Jul) transit and a Glasgow (21 Aug) arrival datestamp. The envelope was readdressed and subsequently backstamped Millport (22 Aug). Some faults including crumpling affecting one adhesive. UNIQUE, being the only recorded example of this datestamp on cover. Ex Brian Hurst collection. |
