1924 KGV Admiral issue plate proofs ex. the Waterlow archives. 7s6d purple and black, imperforate lower marginal plate proof BLOCKS OF 20 (10x2) comprising the lower two rows of the sheet with full margins. One with the headplate only, and one with the complete design with combined headplate and frame. The latter with Waterlow & Sons printers’ imprint and guide lines. Each with various manuscript notations in red and black ink including “Vignette plate & lay correct for 7/6 value / 12.3.28”, “12,000 stamps = 200 pulls”, “Casement Colour O.K. 21/3/28”, “Casement wording correct. Lay a trifle lower as marked” and initials of officials. Vertically folded through centres, and the combined block with a closed tear, otherwise very fine. Without gum and with the usual security punch at the centre of each block of four. Mewett 215 plate proofs. A spectacular and unique Archival record.
