1961 QEII Decimal surcharges 10c on 1/- black and brown-olive. HORIZONTAL PAIR, RIGHT-HAND STAMP WITHOUT SURCHARGE. Complete horizontal row of six stamps across the sheet showing a large horizontal shift of the surcharge to the left resulting in ‘10c’ being printed in the left margin and the right stamp having the surcharge completely omitted. Also showing printer’s marks below stamps [1] and [6] and guide dots in both margins. Superb fresh unmounted mint. A MAJOR BECHUANALAND RARITY. Ex Brian Hurst collection. SG 163a
Note: one sheet of the error originally existed, but the top three row were sold for postal use prior to its discovery. There are therefore only seven possible surviving strips, at least one of which is faulty. This strip emanates from row 5.
