1891 Cape 2d bistre with overprint (stereo) reading upwards. BLOCK OF FOUR showing the ‘nail head’ at centre making this block plateable as from the right pane, rows 7-8, columns 5-6. Very fine or superb fresh unmounted mint with hinge mark on the upper pair only. SG 32 var.
Note: this flaw, in the form of a faint black circle, was produced by the head of one of the nails that secured the stereos remaining sufficiently proud to produce an image on the surface of the stamp.
