Postal History 1894 (December), envelope to addressed to Scotland endorsed “Card Only” and sent unsealed. Bearing a single 1d carmine (SG 49a) tied by a neat CLAREMONT (19 Dec) single circle datestamp. Readdressed on arrival in Edinburgh to the Isle of Bute, then back to Edinburgh. Backstamped Edinburgh (5 and 7 Jan) Rothesay (5 and 7 Jan, the latter on front) and Port Bannatyne (7 Jan). An attractive cover showing interesting use of a 1d unsealed letter, apparently availing of the postcard rate.
