Bearing a single 1888 unappropriated die 2d lilac and black (SG 11) tied by a ‘555’ BONC with a proving strike of the VRYBURG BECHUANALAND (AU 24) single circle date-stamp alongside. Backstamped with a Cape Town (AU 27) arrival datestamp. A fine example of the 2d per half ounce letter rate to the Cape. |
