1896 (12th October), British Bechuanaland used in the Protectorate. Great Britain QV 1 dull scarlet postal stationery card surcharged ‘THREE / HALF PENCE’ (B&BS PC12 / H&G 8). Addressed to Cape Town, the imprinted stamp is cancelled with a ‘674’ BONC overstruck with a proving MOLEPOLOLE BECHUANALAND (OC 12) single circle datestamp, with a second strike alongside. Backstamped with a Cape Town (OC 14) arrival datestamp. A very fine and scarce card correctly used and proving item for the ‘674’ BONC.
