1893 Cape 1d carmine-red with overprint reading downwards. COMPLETE LOWER HALF SHEET OF 120 comprising two panes of 60 with margins on all sides, showing plate number ‘7’ at base of each pane. The left pane showing the constant varieties Broken ‘B’ [Row 1/1], Dot in ‘u’ [Row 2/6] and Sliced ‘ch’ in 'Bechuanaland' [Row 10/6]. The right pane showing SG listed varieties INVERTED ‘u’ FOR 2nd ‘n’ [Row 1/3], and NO DOTS TO ‘i’s OF 'British' [Row 1/4]. Also with unlisted varieties Deformed ‘h’ [Row 3/3], Broken ‘B’ [Row 10/1] and Weak ‘s’ [Row 10/4]. In addition, the overprint has been applied at an angle resulting in many stamps showing degrees of transposed overprint resulting in the lower left corner stamp [Row 10/1] with the rare listed variety ‘British’ OMITTED. Four stamps at top with light gum staining from mounting otherwise all are remarkably fresh unmounted mint. A spectacular and very rare, undoubtedly unique multiple.
