| 1893 Cape 1d carmine-red with overprint reading downwards. Lower right corner marginal PLATE BLOCK OF SIX (3x2) from a right-hand pane showing plate number ‘7’. The lower left stamp showing variety Partially Omitted ‘s’ in ‘British’ [Row 10/4]. Light hinge marks on two and marginal crease just into the corner stamp, otherwise very fine fresh mint. A remarkably scarce plate block. Ex Brian Hurst Collection. SG 38, 38 var. (early stage of SG 38f)
