1893 Cape 1d carmine-red with overprint reading downwards. An upper marginal BLOCK OF FOUR from a lower right-hand pane, the upper left stamp showing the variety INVERTED ‘u’ FOR 2nd 'n' [Row 1/2] and the upper right stamp NO DOTS TO ‘i’ OF ‘British’ [Row 1/4]. The stamps are all superb fresh unmounted mint with light hinge mark in the margin only. PFSA certificate (2000) for SG 38d (later renumbered to SG 38e as the inverted ‘u’ was not catalogued at that time). Ex Brian Hurst Collection. SG 38, 38d, 38e
