| 1895 Cape 2d bistre with overprint (typeset) reading downwards. Showing the variety OVERPRINT DOUBLE. The overprints are almost coincident and of equal intensity, indicating issue at Mafeking. Piece missing at base, the stamp has been overlaid on a normal stamp for display. Otherwise fine mint. The ‘Mafeking Double’ is extremely rare mint, this being the only recorded example.
