1895 Cape 2d bistre with overprint (typeset) reading downwards. Upper marginal BLOCK OF FOUR from the right pane showing the varieties INVERTED ‘u’ FOR 2nd ‘n’ [Row 1/3] and NO DOTS TO ‘i’ OF ‘British’ [Row 1/4]. Hinged in the margin only, the stamps are very fine unmounted mint. A rare multiple. PFSA certificate (2000, then listed as SG 39d). Ex Brian Hurst Collection. SG 39, 39e, 39f
Note: the lack of perforations through the upper margin implies this block emanates from an upper right-hand pane.
