| REVENUE USE 1893-95 Cape 1d carmine-red and 2d bistre with overprint reading downwards used for revenue purposes. Comprising: 1d and 2d (two singles of each) and 1d block of eight (4x2) which includes two listed SG varieties: the upper left stamp with INVERTED ‘u’ FOR 2nd ‘n’ [Row 1/3] and the adjacent stamp to the right NO DOTS TO ‘i’ OF ‘British’ [Row 1/4]. All fine used with manuscript and/or handstamp cancellations. Ex the Brian Hurst Collection and beautifully written up on his album page. SG 38, 38d, 38e, 39
