1888 Cape of Good Hope ½d grey-black overprinted ‘Bechuanaland / Protectorate’ in green. COMPLETE UPPER ROW OF A SHEET comprising two horizontal strips of six separated by the vertical interpanneau gutter margin. With margins on three sides showing current number ‘43’ at upper left and plate number ‘1’ at upper right. This strip proves sheets were overprinted before being separated. Hinged in the margins only, the stamps superb unmounted mint. A rare survivor. Ex Brian Hurst collection. SG 52
