| 1911 (19th December), unsealed envelope addressed to South Africa sent at the ½d open letter rate. Bearing a single Double Head ½d yellow-green (SG 119 / RJL 1) tied by a Bulawayo (19 Dec) double circle datestamp with an additional strike alongside. With a Johannesburg (22 Dec) machine roller arrival cancellation on the reverse. Rare, being only the second example of a ½d Double Head correctly paying this rate we have handled. |
