| 1899 (31st March), envelope addressed to Fordon, Germany (now Poland) bearing a horizontal strip of three ‘Penny Post’ 1d red (SG 215c), each tied by a SPELONKEN / Z.A.R. (31 Mar) double circle datestamp. Pretoria (2 Apr) transit and Fordon (23 Apr) arrival backstamps. The reverse also showing oval cachet of ‘R. Wessmann / Missioner / TSAKOMA / P.O. Spelonken.’ Some unobtrusive flap damage from opening, otherwise very fine and scarce. |
