1903 (23rd January), KEVII 1d carmine postal stationery card addressed to Switzerland. The imprinted stamp is cancelled with a very fine strike of the SPELONKEN (23 Jan) double circle datestamp. Backstamped with a Pietersburg (23 Jan) transit datestamp and with Lausanne (16 Feb) arrival struck on the front. The message on the reverse is headed ‘Valdezia’ and signed by the Swiss missionary Henri Berthoud.
Note: from 1875 Valdezia was the site of a Swiss mission station, established by the Mission Vaudoise (Mission Suisse dans Afrique du Sud).
