1897 (5th March), envelope addressed to Fordon, Germany (now Poland) bearing a single 2½d dull blue and green (SG 219) tied by a SPELONKEN / Z.A.R. (5 Mar) double circle datestamp. Pretoria (7 Mar) transit and Fordon (29 Mar) arrival backstamps. A clean and attractive franking showing the 2½d per half ounce rate to Europe introduced on 1st September 1895 (Trotter, Southern African Mails, p414).
