BOOKLET 1909 2s.6d. Booklet, stapled at right, still containing four complete panes comprising two each of the KEVII ½d yellow-green and the 1d scarlet (SG 273, 274). In remarkably fine condition with unobtrusive wrinkle and small surface fault on the front cover only. An exceptional quality example of this extremely rare booklet. SG SB3 / Mathews Type ‘E / F’
Note: unlike the 2s.7d. booklets, this booklet has no printed text on the inside or back covers.
Despite the cover text stating the booklet contains 10 ½d stamps, 12 are present. Postal officials were supposed to remove two before sale to cover the cost of the booklet though this did not always occur.
Mathews (p121) states “The author has never seen a booklet from issues E and F”. This is only the second example we are aware of, the other was sold by us in 2022. This may well be the finest example extant.
